David and Margery Blower took the Shipston beekeepers stand to this event.
It was in 2 ‘sittings’. 5:30pm – 8:30pm Tues 15th Nov then 9:30am – 3:00pm Wed 16th Nov, and held at Ettington Community Centre. The visitor count was quite good; we understand from Shipston Home Nursing (SHN) that there was around 150 paying visitors on day 1 and around 170 on day 2, based on their count at the door. In addition there were at least 20 SHN volunteers who also visited the stalls.
The Shipston stand was a 6’x2’6” table in the food hall. Space was therefore a bit tight and there was just room for the pop up display really. Over the two sessions there were several enquiries about Shipston’s courses, one offer of talk or workshop, one invite to another summer festival, quite a lot of bee talk and potential offers of apiary sites via the website.
We were selling honey from branch apiary (1lb @ £7.50), David and Margery’s honey (variety of sizes & presentations) and wax candles. In general small sizes were popular as stocking fillers; chunk honey sold well as did candles. Cut comb didn’t sell.
