The Tysoe Flower and Vegetable Fayre is the Saturday following the Brailes show, on 19th August. Douglas Nethercleft led with the Shipston Stand at this show, assisted by Irene Beever and George and Drina Heighton, who all live in Tysoe, Mike Clarke, Graham Franklin and Paul and Julia Neal. We could not have the stand at so many shows without members volunteering to help.
The Shipston stand had a good location right at the entrance so we had a pretty constant stream of visitors.
The Tysoe show also has some honey classes so naturally we had some Shipston entries…who again did rather well.
Just to set some context for this next photo, Douglas, who apparently does like a glass of mead, runs the Monday beginners sessions at our training apiary…..and between them the Monday Group won 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize in the Mead category!
Douglas also won in the set honey class, a second in the clear honey class so with the most overall points Douglas won the Deborah Williams Silver Honey Pot. It was won last year by George and Drina Heighton and Douglas also won the cup in 2017.
Now I’m going to take a big risk here, bearing in mind that Shipston’s training apiary and quite a number of members live in Brailes but…..I thought the Tysoe show this year all round was much better than the Brailes show.
And finally….I think this photo is perfect for a caption competition.
I’ll start with ‘Oh, bees, I thought you said lets talk about beer…..’
