Asian Hornet – Beekeepers Guides

Below are a series of videos, PowerPoints and associated scripts, and downloadable documents that are designed to provide :

  • Beekeepers with some definitive information on the Asian Hornet and what we can do to prepare our apiaries and bees for its arrival
  • Presentations that can be given to beekeepers on the AH
  • Presentations that can be given to the general public to inform then about the AH.

At the end of this page is a link to the considerable Asian Hornet resources on the BBKA website.

We start with some presentations and associated scripts (detailed information to accompany the presentations) prepared by Warwickshire Beekeepers Association:

This PowerPoint, along with the script, is a presentation that can be used to brief members of the public on the Asian Hornet

The National Bee Unit has highlighted the lack of yellow legged Asian hornet recognition skills as a key issue. Of over 20,000 reports in 2023 just 151 were confirmed. Timely and accurate reporting will be a huge help in tackling the issue.

The video below, on YouTube, should help all beekeepers be clear on identifying the Asian Hornet
